Buddhist Temple, Tai Chung, Taiwan

This temple is dedicated to a one time mortal butcher. Many denominations of Buddhism view the slaughter and consumption of amimals as imoral. So how did this temple come to be dedicated to a butcher? He realized the error of his ways and disembowelled himself. His intestine became a snake and his stomach a turtle, while he became a god.
