
I'd meant to get a slide of Older Brother Wolf, but ended up with Old-Man Coyote. In the middle of planning a reshoot, I realized I'd been tricked and kept the original.
Painted Histories began as an investigation of the displaced Shoshone Indians. However, the work became not so much about the Native Americans of my hometown, but rather an examination of how dominant white culture objectifies and commodifies Indian culture, painting a history that is not and never was.
